If you are using a song on broadcast television or radio, you need to make sure you notify the the station of the song you are using with in your commercial or television series.
Basically my name, “Cassidy James Bisher” my P.R.O. (ASCAP) and the title code of the song.
ASCAP stands for the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers. It basically pays out Performance fees for songs that are registered by its members.
I am a member.
It’s as simple as this, you become an ASCAP member, and you create “Song A”.
You register Song A with ASCAP online.
Song A gets played on the radio, television commercial or TV show .
ABC, NBC, ClearChannel, etc. pays ASCAP licensing fees to play songs written/published by it’s members.
These companies compile a list of what they have been playing and how often they’ve been playing them.
This list submitted to ASCAP is the “Survey.” Once the surveys have been submitted to ASCAP by their licensors, ASCAP pays a specific amount for each radio spin or network appearance to the writers involved with creating the work.
ASCAP gathers up the performace information and pays the writers what they’ve earned.
I hope that makes sense. All my songs have this information contained on the web for you. |
